Skegness RNLI's annual fundraiser has been cancelled due to restrictions surrounding Covid-19..

Flag Week normally takes place in June, including a family event at the Lifeboat Station which attracts hundreds of people.

Mairi Perry, fundraising chairman, said in a statement on Facebook: "We have had to make the decision to cancel our Flag Week this year.

"There is to be no face-to-face fundraising this year, until at least September 1.

"We are so sorry about this but must be mindful of the current situation so the decision was a very obvious one to make.

"We look forward to seeing all our fundraisers and supporters when it is safe to do so.

"Stay safe and stay well."

Recently the RNLI appealed to the public visiting the beach to be extra vigilant and not take any undue risks on the water to save the emergency services as there are no lifeguards patrolling at the moment.

In the meantime, the RNLI is looking at ways the community can still support them as they rely on donations to keep operating. These will be announced on the RN:LI Skegness Facebook page.
