Looking for the best (and worst) building projects in Sleaford area
Sleaford and District Civic Trust is running its annual awards scheme and people have until Friday (Feb 24) to get their nominations in.
The Trust’s chairman and architect Tim Benton said: “We are inviting nominations for projects worthy under environmental improvement schemes and also nominations for the biggest eyesore.

Hide Ad“The awards are there to highlight what is being done to make improvements in the area and is also open to the adjoining parishes, such as Kirkby la Thorpe and Rauceby, and others in the district.”
Judges will be looking for projects to:
○ Promote by encouragement and to acknowledge imaginative and creative improvements in the townscape;
○ Promote quality and excellence in building schemes;
○ Promote awareness of these purposes in the eyes of the general public.
Additionally, the Trust is also considering contenders for an award for the Mess of the Year.

Hide AdPrevious winners for best projects have included Sleaford’s Leisure Centre, which picked up an award after its refurbishment.
Sleaford Museum Trust has also been awarded a plaque for ‘outstanding’ conversion work on the town’s old Monument Gardens toilet block to convert it to a museum.
A former Mess of the Year was the Pizza ‘Hot’ takeaway in Southgate, which won the award two years running.
Nominations for this year’s awards, which may include townscape as well as buildings, should be sent no later than Friday (Feb 24) to Tim Benton, Chairman Sleaford Civic Trust, 33 Northgate, Sleaford, Lincolnshire NG34 7BX.
